MISSION
Save Open Space, a non-profit organization of all volunteers, actively works in many ways to maintain the integrity and beauty of natural space, floodplains, creeks and waterways, in an urban area. SOS carries on the mission, envisioned by its founders nearly four decades ago, of carefully studying the issues and educating the public regarding the economic and aesthetic values of preserved open space within metropolitan areas.

The organization continues to be a dynamic force in Dallas, bringing about important changes in public policy, when needed. SOS promotes wise planning policies for the future and addresses the urgent need for preservation of existing natural open space. Save Open Space Board members provide valuable expertise for media and the public, while acting as a trusted resource in all matters of urban open space.

The ongoing mission to educate the general public and others regarding this valuable resource for all, continues in a number of ways, including: directing the application of beneficial policies - ranging from unimproved, to varying degrees of developed lands. This often includes the recovery of selected areas to a more natural setting through education, influence, and action. To set aside or retain available open space and natural habitat, is to improve the environment on behalf of the citizens of all Dallas metropolitan area.
